Spends Better occasionally publishes affiliate links to products, tools, or services that we use or genuinely recommend. This page explains what that means.

What is an affiliate link?

An affiliate link is a regular link that includes a small tracking parameter. If you click through and end up purchasing the product, the company pays us a small commission. The price you pay is identical whether you use our link or not.

Why we use them

Spends Better is funded by a combination of newsletter readership, occasional sponsorship, and small affiliate commissions. Affiliate income helps us pay our writers, keep the site ad-light, and stay independent of any single sponsor.

Our promise

1. We will never recommend a product solely because it has an affiliate program. If we cannot stand behind a product, we will not link to it.
2. We will clearly mark affiliate-linked sections inside articles, typically with a note at the top of the relevant section.
3. We will never write a paid article that pretends to be editorial. Sponsored content (when we publish any) will be labeled as sponsored, top and bottom.
4. We do not accept payment for positive reviews, ratings, or rankings.

The products we tend to recommend

Generally, we recommend low-cost, household-friendly tools such as budgeting apps, expense trackers, kitchen storage products, and energy-saving gadgets. We do not recommend investment products, credit cards with predatory rates, or services that require long lock-in contracts.
